A few words about the competition
The competition MRC Global Olympiad is a relatively new competition which has Greek organizers and takes place in Greece, in Heraklion Crete. In addition to Greek students, hundreds of students from dozens countries abroad participate in it. Last year the participations exceeded 2500 while this year an even greater participation of students and countries is expected!
It is therefore an opportunity for our teams to compete in a competition where they will meet students from other countries of the world, directly, without needing to compete first at the national level for their qualification.
Dates of the event
The competition will take place from Friday April 3rd to Monday April 6th 2026! During that period schools close for the Easterholidays, Sunday, April 5th is the Palm Sunday. We therefore expect that the students participants, along with their parents and the coaches themselves, to will enjoy a memorable experience that will combine a large robotics competition, with accommodation in wonderful Crete a very good season of the year.
Benefits for participants
The participation in competitions provides valuable experiences to children. It gives them the opportunity to collaborate in teams, to deepen their knowledge, to operate independently, to take initiatives, to enjoy and actively participate in a robotics celebration!
The participation in robotics competitions and festivals, regardless of distinction, are invaluable tools for the resume of the child, which is now being built from a very young age.
Previous distinctions
Hundreds of students from Robotakia participate every year in Robotics competitions and festivals! Every year, in fact, several of our students achieve top positions and distinctions! You can see more about our school's successes here.
Competitive categories
The competition MRC Global Olympiad has several competitive categories! The competitive categories are inspired by sports and are very well placed educationally. They are therefore within the capabilities of the students, with the right choice of materials, programming languages, and level of challenge. Additionally, they are designed in such a way as to ensure an objective assessment, since the robot athletes have measurable goals. For example, in the category Rally the robot performs a course and wins the most fastest. In the category Football the team that scores the most goals etc.
Preparation classes
The Robotakia will participate this year in two competitive categories, for the Elementary School in this one of Water Polo and for the Middle School in this one of Marathon.
Preparation for each competition consists of twelve two-hour workshops so it lasts three months. Each training session will last 2 hours. Students will form teams of two – three children.
The preparation classes will start on December 20th..
In the preparation classes, only our students who are concurrently attending the annual cycle participate; after all, most of the required experience for programming and building the robot comes from there.
Preparation cost per student
Tuition: 340€ for 12 two-hour workshops
Additional costs:
Registration Fee: 30 euros per student (paid to the organizer)
Coach's fee: 110€

Team formation
The teams will be formed in the first preparation workshop by the teachers, naturally taking into account the children's wishes. Alternatively, children and parents, if they wish, can form their teams in advance. A prerequisite for this is that parents ensure their children are registered in the same preparation group and inform the teacher of the preparation group about their wish for their children to be in the same team before the start of the 1st preparation workshop.
Team names
The teams from Robotakia have a compound name, with the first component being the word Robotakia, e.g. Robotakia – Eagles. The second component is chosen by the children.
Attire
On the day of the competition, children wear a Robotakia t-shirt with their name on the back and a unique number!
Parental consent
Parental consent is required for the organizer and Robotakia, for the child's participation, as well as for the use of audiovisual material that includes the children, from the preparation and from the competition, for informational and promotional purposes.
